Children generally start learning uppercase letters between ages 3 and 4, often in preschool. At 3-4 years old, they begin to recognize some letters visually, especially those in their names. Around 4-5 years old (pre-K and kindergarten), they learn to name and trace all uppercase letters before moving on to lowercase letters. By 5-6 years old (kindergarten and 1st grade), they associate uppercase and lowercase letters and start using them in writing and reading.
